Senecio has developed a number of programmes that they use in the centers and these are now also available for purchase. These programmes have been developed by Senecio therapists who are able to draw from years of experience as well as the expertise gained from actively working with disabled children. The programmes are all tried and tested and are producing fantastic results everywhere they are being implemented. Be sure to check regularly as the existing programmes are being improved and new ones are being written.

Please direct all inquiries about the purchase of our programmes to admin@senecio.org.za.

Sensory Motor Learning Programme (SMLP)
Written by Marie Vorster, edited by Annatjie van Niekerk - 2009

This programme was designed for teachers and facilitators working at Care Centres for children who are mentally challenged with or without any physical disabilities.

It provides a practical manual for the teachers/ facilitators to follow.

The focus of the programme is to provide enjoyable developmental-appropriate movement experiences in the teaching of fundamental coordination and perceptual skills.

It has been compiled for children with different diagnoses and with different abilities and disabilities. The programme is devised for children that are independent walkers, but ideas for adaptation for the assisted walkers and those in the wheel chairs are given.

It has to provide growth and stimulation opportunities for children on different developmental levels, therefore there are different skill levels to choose from.
