Senecio views events as a perfect opportunity to create better awareness of the plight of people with disabilties in the community. It is vitally important for Senecio to be in the public eye. At present Senecio focusses mainly on one event, namely the annual Senecio Fun run/walk/wheel. In just three years this event has already grown considerably and we would like to believe that it will grow even better in the future.

The events are also one of Senecio's forms of income, so we ask everyone who is able to, to support these events. You are not only supporting a very worthwhile cause, but it is great fun as well. Please follow the links to read more about the events that we have hosted in the past. If you would like to help with the organising of any of these events, or have an idea for a different event you think might work for Senecio, please contact us with your ideas.

Wheelchair Relay in the West Coast National Park
On Saturday 19 November 2011 Senecio hosted an event for people with spinal injuries in the West Coast National Park. The aim of this event was to create awareness and demonstrate that with teamwork, anything is possible – even in a wheelchair. 8 Wheelchair users and 9 able bodied people completed the 32 km on a relay basis. The wheelchair users wheeled together in pairs, completing distances of 2 km before giving over to the next pair.

Who said that the West coast was flat? The wheelchair users who completed the distance between the Langebaan gate and Kraalbaai in their wheelchairs will definitely disagree!
